TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver: Finally, a 3-wood Designed for the Tee

TaylorMade noticed that TOUR pros and better amateurs hit their 3-wood off the tee a lot more frequently than from the fairway, so TaylorMade embraced that insight and created a new golf club that incorporates our cutting edge metalwood technology, including the distance-enhancing Speed Pocket, and sized it between a 3-wood and 460cc driver. The TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver, it's incredibly accurate and longer off the tee than a 3-wood.

The TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver's is 260cc and its footprint is larger, and face deeper, than a 160cc 3-wood. That gives you more stability and forgiveness on mis-hits and allows you to tee the ball higher, which makes the it easier to launch off the tee than a 3-wood. The TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver has a low-forward CG like the rest of TaylorMade's SLDR metalwoods, and a Speed Pocket too, which promotes more ball speed and less spin to give you more distance when you loft up.

In addition, the SLDR Mini Driver's relatively short shaft (43.5" compared to 45.5" for the average driver) gives you the added club head control necessary to help you hit the ball straighter. There's more. The Mini Driver's sole, smaller than a driver's, is designed to make it easy to hit this club off the deck. That's why, even though it's called a SLDR Mini Driver, you're going to want to replace your 3-wood with it. Then you'll have a great option for long, accurate tee shots when placement in the fairway is vital. And you've got the perfect club for getting home in two on those previously unreachable par-5s. Because everything that makes the SLDR Mini Driver long and accurate off the tee makes it long and accurate off the turf too.

Pros: High launch, very straight, easy from the fairway, inspires confidence.
Cons: NONE
Recommended: Yes
I own 11 TM Drivers, all with Senior Graphite shafts. I'm senior golfer, in my 70's, a teaching pro & carry a USGA HC Index of 5. I also have 3 sets of TM irons and several putters. I play 3-4 rounds a week at several courses near Ft Bragg/Fayetteville, NC. All my TM equipment plays exceptionally well. The Mini's in particular are easy for students to hit straight and long. They are amazed when I hand them a mini and put their oversized driver with a stiff or regular flex shaft in their bag. No more topped shots, slices or popups. Senior golfers over 50 should try senior shafted clubs and play from the Senior Tees. In-The-Hole-Golf can fix you seniors up with the right clubs and shafts and you will hit more greens in regulation and putt for more
birdies and pars. These changes will make the game fun again!

This club is my driver
By Lefthanded Hacker from Pennsyvania on 07/12/2014
Pros: Much easier to hit than any regular driver I have owned
Cons: It has me thinking I could hit a regular Slider driver
Recommended: Yes
I am a left handed, clumsy golfer with 38 inch long arms. At 54, I have been golfing for 12 years. Drivers have always been a problem - and so have most 3 woods, so I use a 5 wood off the tee. I get an honest 210 yards from any of the ten 5 woods I have tried.

The Mini Driver has me driving about the same distance as the 8 handicap player in my group, and now, on a 136 slope course, I am hitting 90 instead of 96 average.

Can replace driver or 3 wood or both. Does a better job than both of my old clubs. Hit it confidently off the tee or the deck.

Great club
By RJ from Whidbey Island WA. on 06/23/2014
Pros: Very long and workable both ways easy to hit
Cons: None
Recommended: Yes
Took it out to the range and hit a whole bucket, the ball jumps off the club and trajectory is great. Able to work the ball both ways distance is better than my 3 wood will use it on most of the par 4,s which will give me short irons into the hole. 70,s here I come!
