Welcome to 2009 and say “hello” to the Cleveland Niblick Hybrid Wedge. Undoubteably you knew someone or had seen the chippers of the older era. Maybe you even had one. Some of them were two sided, making the club illegal for USGA play. That was in the 70’s & 80’s. Now time warp to 2009 and a whole new breed of chippers are available.
Well know for their classic and highly sought after wedges, Cleveland has entered the chipper/hybrid wedge category with the Cleveland Niblick Hybrid Wedge. The Niblick takes styling cues from Clevelands CG14 Black pearl wedge line. According to Cleveland Golf, the Niblick combines the best features of a wedge, putter, iron, and hybrid to create the ultimate hybrid scoring wedge. Hit chips, pitches, recovery, and even approach shots with imporved consistency and forgiveness.
The Cleveland Niblick is available in 2 lofts: The Niblick 9 with a 37* loft, and Niblick 10 witha 42* loft. The Niblick features Clevelands breakthough Zip Groove technology to optimize spin and control on each shot. The Niblick also has a Gelback insert, Cleveland Golf’s lightwieght, visc-elastic vibration dampening material placed right behind the hitting area of the club.
