Looking for adjustability? With an adjustable hosel and movable weights, this is the driver for you!
Last week we posted info on the new TaylorMade R9 Driver and mentioned the R9 Fairway Wood. Rather than leave you in the dark, here is the latest on the new TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood. The R9 Fairway Wood will feature the same FCT (Flight Control technology) as the TaylorMade R9 Driver, which allows the golfer to adjust the head postion of the fairway wood in 1 of 8 different postions. Players will have the same adjustability that Tour Pros have access to. You’ll be able to adjust your R9 fairway wood to appear open, square, or closed. With the addition of TaylorMades MVT (Moveable Weight Technology) in the R9 Fairway Wood, a player will be able to vary their ball flight up to 35 yards right to left.
The TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood features TaylorMade’s “new classic” head shape which combines traditional looks with contemporary lines and is particularly easy to aim, and sets up beautifully behind the ball. The center of gravity on the TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood is more than 50% lower than that of the similarly sized r7 Fairway Woods. The much lower CG makes the R9 extremely easy to launch high and long. A rounded and beveled sole also reduces turf drag on the R9.
As you would expect, there is a TaylorMade R9 TP Fairway Wood available as well. The R9 TP will feature a Fujikura Motore F1 85 gram shaft.
The latest from TaylorMade, the new TaylorMade R9 Driver is scheduled to be available in mid March. Featuring the latest technology the R9 will have TaylorMade’s FCT (Flight Control Technology). Flight Control Technology will enable the golfer to adjust the face angle and loft of the driver. With the addition of TaylorMades Moveable Weight Technology and FCT, adjustability of ball flight, 75 yards to the right and left is possible. A special wrench provided will allow the head of the TaylorMade R9 Driver to be placed in eight different positions, from 2* open to 2* closed. An R9 TP will be available as well. We have not yet seen the R9 in person, but are looking forward to testing this innovative technology. An R9 Fairway Wood will also be available as well as a matching Rescue club.
**Update – 1-23-09: The TaylorMade R9 Driver became the number one driver in play at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, with 13 players putting the new R9 Driver in their bags. This is the first time a TaylorMade driver has been the #1 driver in play in its first week on Tour.
