The Axis 1 putter is a breakthrough innovation that challenge the wisdom of contemporary clubs. By shifting the heel weight forward of the striking face, the club's center of gravity is now placed exactly on the clubs sweet spot and in-line with the axis of the shaft at the same time.  Innovation
Try this exercise:
1. Take your putter and address the golf ball
2. Support the lower shaft of the putter with one foot to maintain the angle of the shaft
3. Gently release the pressure of your grip
4. Watch what happens

Notice how the clubface of your putter rotates clockwise around the axis of the shaft (right handed clubs). This rotation is due to every putter's center of gravity being located at some distance behind the axis of the shaft. This means the while you putt, not only are you trying to swing your club in a straight line, but you are also overcoming the tendency for your putter to open up and push the ball to the right. This rotating force is made worse by today's most popular putters which continue to increase in depth in order to provide large alignment features.

Now, if you were to do the same exercise with the Axis 1 putter, you would see that the club head remains perpendicular to the direction of the putt even after you relax your grip on the club.
