If it wasn't for that annoyingly high number on the score card I would be making a living playing this game. Welcome to my pain. I love this game. I am that weirdo that enjoys practicing as much as playing. I still couldn't get my index below a 9.7. This is a silly game. I had seen Tour Tempo at the bookstore and read the reviews online. Even been to the website. Figured it was snake oil...been suckered by enough of those. I finally broke down. Bought the book at the bookstore. Read it in one evening. Watched the videos and listened to the tones. It makes sense, it's even intuitive. Well, we'll see what happen at the range. Park the car as close to the range as possible. Turn up the stereo (thankfully I am the only one there). Take a few practice swings with the 27/9 tone, then 24/8. 24/8 feels about right. Hit a few 7 irons with 24/8. Seems to work, but I've seen the 'honeymoon period' with training aids. Switch to the driver, dang that went far with a little draw. Pretty impressive since my natural shot is a slight fade. My backswing sure does feel fast. For the first time it feels like a swing instead of just hitting certain positions and checkpoints. I found that things started to feel reactionary instead of robotic. Concentrating on the tones cleared my mind of swing thoughts and mechanical musing. My body knew what to do I just had to do it at the right tempo. The above describes my first experience with Tour Tempo. I have read, watched and learned from every source. I have tried Ben Hogan's method dig the secret out of the dirt, one divot at a time. I could talk about weight shift, head position, draws, fades, intentional slices, intentional hooks and so on. I had heard of tempo, thought it was something you either had or didn't. I didn't. As soon as I used TOUR TEMPO, I found my tempo. It was 24/8. Since then I have found that it is really 18/6. 18/6 keeps my swing compact, just short of parallel on the way back. 106 MPH driver speed after using TOUR TEMPO 95 MPH before TOUR TEMPO. Before TOUR TEMPO, I had always used an extra club so I could swing 'slow and in control' with my fade. After TOUR TEMPO, I swing at 18/6 and if I grab an extra club it's so I don't spin the ball back off the green. As problems go, I'll take it. Since TOUR TEMPO, my index has gone from 9.7 to 5.7 in two months. I went from a best score at my home course of 80 to 78 to 73 (with a triple bogey on the last hole wanted to break 70). Whenever my brain gets clogged with mechanical thoughts I put on the TOUR TEMPO PLAYER and concentrate on the tones and next thing I know my mind is clear, my ball striking is back and confidence is soaring. I use TOUR TEMPO while warming up before a round and during practice sessions. I also listen to the tones while sleeping. Remember, I am obsessed with this game of golf. If you want to elevate your game use TOUR TEMPO. I've experienced snake oil, this is not snake oil. Been using the Tour Tempo Player that you sent to me after the PGA Show on my lessons as well as during my own practice time. Fabulous!!! I received my Tour Tempo player last week. I am very pleased with your products. I have already hooked some friends and they now listen to Tour Tempo! I am not a musically inclined individual (I am SO type-A you could write a sit-com about me). Songs do not get stuck in my head, I can't carry a tune if you put a handle on it and I draw bad stick people. Nevertheless the timing of the Tour Tempo beats does stick with me. Great job, keep up the good work! Thanks. I really like the exercise regime. Rather than pounding away at all three hitting mats at full strength I prefer this exercise as it builds on the fundamentals of the Y and L drills while doing strength trainings as well. Even with a 1 handicap this drill is improving accuracy and it really is a workout. I was sweating when I finished. On a related note, my 24 year old daughter had decide to take up the game. As a clubmaker I have built her a set of Tom Wishon 730CL. But before she could even touch the clubs we started with the XL8R system and the tour tempo. It amazing how quickly she learning a proper swing using both. Granted there are fundamentals around grip and stance and I had to make a major correction to her swing plane but the two systems have made the learning process a lot easier and faster. I only wish I had taken before an after pictures. I love the tones... my game has become much more consistent and I'm hitting the ball further. Hi, John....thanks for the note. I like what you've developed. Having been attracted to all the gimicks and had my brain addled over and over, I find that your tempo system helps get my mind off swing mechanics and on tempo and "through" the ball. Comments: John, Hi, the last time I spoke with you I had purchased a 2 iron and crushed it on to a par 5 235 yards, dont know if you remember me. But, I played a recent round of golf and played 11 holes 1 under par. I'm getting better and better. My irons keep getting longer and longer, my drives are great. I hit a 318 yarder the other day, and my average with a 5 iron is now around 190. Two of my friends have purchased tour tempo since we spoke last and one has taken 8 stokes off his game. Damn! now he's playin me and giving me a run for my money. He was angry that I didnt tell him about it sooner! he he !! I told him man, I thought you would laugh at me. Anyway thanks. Comments: I really like the player, it is too bad I cannot use it during tournaments. The tones really helped my golf swing as I concentrate more on following the tones than golf mechanics. The first time I used it I shot 82 and 39, played 27 holes. Prior to that I shot 92 and 108. The full swing tones (24/8) were difficult to react to in the beginning but once I got used to it, that is all I think about when teeing off The greatest improvement is in my putting. The short game or putting tones really helped. I had two six foot birdies and a 25 foot birdie. I saved many pars from 4 to 6 feet. For me that is really a great accomplishment. Comments: Thanks John -Your Player video is A-plus; what tempo are you using out of sand with the lob wedge? Comments: I tried the "putt" rhythm tones for the short game and they were great. The rhythm is very compelling and induces crisp striking and acceleration. I tried it for longer shots but started either with the club at hip height or as the club head, already moving back smoothly from address, reached this height. Once again a truly fantastic feeling. Many thanks for making my golf so interesting, enjoyable and less mechanical. Your insights have been a huge leap forward in golf tuition.
