Tour Edge Exotics XCG-5 Fairway Wood

Power redefined.
An uncompromising design approach, the Exotics XCG-5 fairway features an innovative titanium cup face and crown, a beta titanium face insert for added distance, and a heavy tungsten sole plate that provides 68% of the club head's total weight.  In fact, the XCG5 is the only fairway wood on the market to use a titanium cupped face and tungsten sole.  The titanium offers exceptional distance while the tungsten allows for a smaller more traditional-sized head with a low center of gravity - and the combination delivers driver-like distance with remarkable forgiveness.

The XCG5 fairway wood delivers a new benchmark in performance.  Unlike other fairway woods, we've eliminate welding by brazing the titanium and tungsten parts.  Extremely expensive, combo-brazing is utilized when only the highest-quality joint is needed.  The parts must be fitted to 1/1000 of an inch and the base metals must be exceptionally clean and free of oxides.  The process is expensive because it is performed inside a vacuum chamber over several hours.  The end result is exceptional because it greatly reduces residual part stresses by using slow heating and cooling cycles. This,in turn, significantly improves the thermal and mechanical properties of the material for longer better feeling shots.

Tour Edge engineers will help you set new distance records with our Boomerang face design.  This super-charged design offers multiple levels of variable face thickness that make the most of the rebound effect from more points on the face.  The V-shaped boomerangs allow for thinner and thicker areas on the face that produce a hotter launch and superlative feel even on off center hits.

More distance
By RK2 from North Carolina on 10/27/2012
Pros: Distance
Cons: Grip is a little slippery, won't be white long.

I am not a long hitter. I also have trouble hitting driver so I use 3 wood off the tee a lot. I use a Callaway Diablo 15 degree 3 wood and hit it good and as far as my driver. So I wanted to get this 3 wood in a 11.5 degree and try for more distance. Hit it for the first time playing yesterday. I play the same course regularly so I know where I am on my good hits. One particular up hill par 4 I will be at 185-190 yards for my second shot on my best day. Yesterday I was at 151 yards with this club. I have never been there before. So, I am pleased at more distance. I feel like I now have a club that gives me real driver distance with 3 wood control. Oh - the sound this beast makes on contact - it will make you smile. Can't describe it because I haven't heard this sound before. This was my first purchase with In The Hole Golf , ALL GOOD. They are now on my favorites list .

This club is much easier for me to hit than my previous Callaway 3 wood. It is also much more consistent for me.

A bomber!

Pros: Long and solid

I am a 12 handicap, and, hit the Tour Edge XCGV 15 deg 240 off the tee. I hit it straight, and, because of that, I don't use a driver. Extra yards to me are not worth it.
Saw this one, and, thought I would try it. I am now back into driver distance. Conservatively, 265+ off the tee for me, and, easy to work. I am a little old school, so, I like the small head. But, when you want ot step on it, you can. Response is great. Yah, it's a little pricey, but, buy it, keep it 3 years. $100 a year. That's well worth it .
